Being a recipient of the Interdisciplinary South Asian Studies Scholarship, I work across the departments of English and Sociology, clubbing textual analysis with qualitative data (interviews). My research falls under the categories of print literature, cultural studies, postcolonialism, feminism and gender studies, global literature, popular culture, and comparative literature.

Archives of Dreams, Desires, and Selfhood - Oroosa Anwar

This research analyses Urdu women’s magazines and interviews with readers to highlight how North Indian Muslim women use popular literature to express identity, debate social issues, and build community. By recognising these magazines as meaningful cultural archives, the project challenges stereotypes and restores Muslim women’s voices to the centre of academic discourse.
