Hey! I’m Yingying PENG. I just passed my viva! My research bridges education, social neuroscience, and artificial intelligence to deepen our understanding of naturalistic learning and social interactions. My goal is to bring science closer to everyday life by exploring fundamental yet intuitive questions: What makes human human? Is it language, social interaction, personality, our evolving relationship with AI—or perhaps all of these together?

This neuroscience study shows that brief pre-lecture interactions significantly improve learning. Students who chatted with either a human teacher or an AI tutor before watching a video lecture performed better and showed greater brain synchrony in MRI scans. Social interaction—human or artificial—primes the brain for more effective learning.
