Biography

Kamruzzaman Joty is a PhD candidate in Mechanical Engineering at Southern Methodist University working in the BAST Laboratory under Prof. MinJun Kim. His research focuses on engineering hybrid solid-state nanopores integrated with DNA nanostructures and two-dimensional materials for single-molecule sensing and molecular diagnostics.

His work aims to enable ultrasensitive detection of proteins and biomolecules by measuring electrical signals generated as individual molecules pass through nanoscale pores. By combining nanofabrication, biomolecular engineering, and machine learning analysis, his research seeks to develop next-generation diagnostic technologies capable of detecting disease biomarkers from extremely small sample volumes.

He has published multiple peer-reviewed papers in journals including Analytical Chemistry and ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, and his current research explores heterogeneous multilayer nanopores and AI-assisted signal analysis for molecular diagnostics.
