Foot-and-mouth disease spreads rapidly among livestock and could cause major economic damage if introduced into the United States. Current cattle movement tracking is largely manual and inefficient. Simulation research shows that increasing electronic tagging and digital reporting could dramatically improve outbreak control by enabling faster tracing of infected animal movements.

This research investigates how avian metapneumovirus spreads in poultry facilities and tests far-UVC light as a safe disinfection strategy. By studying viral survival on surfaces and in air, the work aims to prevent costly outbreaks, protect animal welfare, and reduce risks to human health through a One Health approach.
